Training

TTS provides basic radioactive material training, DOT hazmat employee training, motor carrier safety training (drug/alcohol training, motor carrier regulatory requirements, etc.), and other specialized courses to meet your specific needs. Our management team is experienced in training material handlers, fork lift operation, motorized pallet jacks and any other material handling equipment required.  TTS has “best in class” instructors that have regulatory backgrounds and experience in DOT regulatory requirements and US DOE policies/directives as well as experience in leading technical training sessions. TTS Information Technology staff led end user training for the Radio Frequency Identification Transport System supporting the electronic shipping and tracking of hazardous materials transportation across the Department of Energy Oak Ridge Operations’ reservation as well as conduct technical training sessions at other DOE facilities across the country. TTS is responsible for multiple areas of competency concerning training programs. These include, but are not limited to scheduling facilities, creation of the training program and all electronic and print materials required for a successful training session. TTS also has created computer based training programs as well.

US DOT, NRC and DOE Regulatory Compliance

TTS Regulatory Compliance staff has advanced knowledge of compliance with US DOT, NRC and DOE transportation and waste management regulations of Titles 10, 40 and 49 Code of Federal Regulations. We can provide guidance on use and writing of US DOT Special Permits, hazardous material and hazardous waste transportation and packaging, Transportation Documented Safety Analysis, IATA, IAEA and IMDG regulation compliance, and US DOT and NRC packaging quality assurance requirements. TTS staff can perform baseline audits of hazardous material and hazardous waste packaging, transportation, and quality assurance programs.

In the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Environmental Management American Recover and Reinvestment Act Newsletter article titled Effective Financial Planning Spurs Recovery Act Success at Oak Ridge, Photo of the Radio Frequency Identification Transportation System (RFITS) in use in Oak Ridge, TN.DOE details the significant project accomplishments. All of the Oak Ridge ARRA funded D&D projects that shipped to the Environmental Management Waste Management Facility (EMWMF) used the Radio Frequency Identification Transportation System (RFITS) to create electronic shipping documents and track the movement of these waste shipments.

The use of RFITS was critical for both EMWMF Operations and the waste generators to achieve the required maximum efficiencies which directly contributed to "...accomplishing work on schedule and under budget to produce savings of $110 million that will be used for additional cleanup".
